by Tabitha Carothers
December 18, 2008
A workshop will be provided for all students including college bound seniors, students getting ready to apply for student loans, at risk students or anyone planning on opening a bank account. Seminars will be held at the University of Kansas and Kansas State University. on March 3 and March 6, 2009.
In an effort to help educate the youth of Kansas, these seminars have been created to show students how to make well-informed financial decisions, avoid credit scams, protect their personal information, interpret contract and lease agreements, and develop good banking skills. The two workshops will include topics such as: Rental and Lease Contracts issues, Student Loans Lending, Credit Cards, Banking Practices, and other issues affecting today's students.
Transportation to these workshops will be the responsibility of the school district or student along with a $5.00 fee per student that will include informational materials and a brown bag lunch.
Seminars will be conducted in honor of National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW). NCPW highlights consumer education efforts in the fight against fraud in communities across the nation.
Registration ends February 3, 2009, registration fees are due with the attached registration form. If you should have any questions about this, or any other NCPW event taking place this week, please contact the Office of the Attorney General, Consumer Protection Division, at 785-296-3751. We look forward to educating your students about these important issues and thank you for your assistance with National Consumer Protection Week.
